LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- His father sings a song called "The River," and now, rock legend Bruce Springsteen's teen son might be singing his own song, "The Lake."
Evan Springsteen, 15, had to be rescued by forest rangers when the kayak he was using on Lake Placid flipped over during the Fourth of July weekend.
Officials with the state Department of Environmental Conservation said forest rangers on a routine patrol of the lake spotted an overturned kayak some distance from shore. When they pulled up, they spotted a teen in the water.
The rangers got the boy into their boat and took him to the rented lakeside camp where his family was staying.
Evan wasn't hurt when his kayak tipped over while on an outing with friends.
A DEC representative said the rocker thanked the rangers for rescuing his son.
The Boss and his family are regulars in Lake Placid during the holiday weekend. Their daughter, Jessica, competes in the annual horse show.
